Our fall field season has come to an end. We planted an additional 218 new bare roots, adding 5 new varieties to our collection. We decided to cover the tender ones for this first winter to try to baby them a bit, but someone didn't calculate the amount of burlap we needed, so it has turned into an experiment to see if the extra care makes a difference next spring.
Even when the blossoms are past their prime, they continue to smell and look incredible. I have a hard time throwing them in the compost.
